Self in Recovery: eine phänomenologische Perspektive auf Schizophrenie*

SelfRecovery (Self in Recovery: a phenomenological perspective on schizophrenia) is an ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) and DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) funded research project1.

We investigate how the lived experience of people being in recovery from schizophrenic* experiences can be described.

To do so we draw on phenomenology and qualitative research.

Our aim is to describe what it is like to be in recovery. We focus on the experiences related to selfhood in a broad sense, that are thought to be disturbed in “schizophrenia spectrum disorders”*.

How can the continuity of being a self be regained where it seems to be fragilized?

How do narratives contribute to reconstructing an identity of being in recovery?

What dimensions of experience are relevant for the feeling of being a person?

These are some of the questions that we address from a philosophical and a clinical perspective.
