Self in Recovery: a phenomenological perspective on schizophrenia*

*We refer here to schizophrenia as a psychiatric diagnosis (i.e. a label) given by health professionals to individuals experiencing certain types of symptoms and distress. We do not adhere to the biologistic, individualistic and degenerative connotations commonly associated with the term. In contrast, we adopt more of a phenomenological perspective, conceptualising 'schizophrenia' as a possible description of what is at the core of a particular human experience, which we also aim to further explore, potentially challenge and ultimately revise within the current project.
